For reasons unknown, this summer hundreds of penguins washed up on the Brazilian shore, some 2,000 miles from their usual lodgings in Patagonia. The International Animal Welfare Fund and the Brazilian military, being responsible types, decided to send them home. They boxed them up, 23 to an open-ended box, and airlifted them to a beach in Pelotas, at the extreme southern end of Brazil. They put them up for the night, and then released them into the ocean to swim home. This video documents the release.
