In case no one has forwarded this to you yet, know that a lion rode out Hurricaine Ike in a church in Bolivar Peninsula, TX. the lions owner (!) was driving the lion out of danger (!!!), when he was stopped by flood waters. He made for the church, and residents helped the lion wade inside, where they locked it in a sanctuary. Apparently the lion spent much of the time snoozing upon the alter. Top quote:
“They worked pretty well together, actually,” said the lion’s owner, Michael Ray Kujawa. “When you have to swim, the lion doesn’t care about eating nobody.”
The piece also quotes someone saying that the lion was “tame as a kitten.” Yeah, a 350 pound kitten that can bite your head off. Remember kids, don’t play with lions.
