The Lunar X prize

Google is now offering $25 million to the first private company to launch an unmanned rover to the moon, have it travel at least 500 meters, and send data home. This follows on the heels of the first X prize, won by Scaled composites, which gave $10 million to the first company to launch a manned spaceship into low earth orbit and have the person return home safely. Speaking as someone who hopes to become a lunar tourist some day, I’m stoked.
